Yoga photography I Yoga Teacher Branding Photo Session

A yoga photography shoot is a unique opportunity to capture the essence of yoga. When done correctly, it can be an incredibly powerful way to share the beauty and power of this ancient practice with the world. In this blog post, I will be sharing yoga photography tips plus some great pictures from a recent branding yoga photography session with amazing Caroline Banks, founder of Kurazana Yoga, Body and Mind Retreat.

Caroline is a qualified Personal Trainer and Yoga teacher. “I base my practice on the Sanskrit terms, ‘Kura’, meaning ‘Fierce’, and ‘Zana’, meaning ‘Calm’, and offer a synthesis of yoga and modern fitness science to create a holistic and modern approach to physical wellbeing.” She put together a variety of packages combining yoga and personal fitness training that can be tailored to your own needs so make sure you check out her website for more details.

This was the second personal branding shoot I did with Caroline and it’s always a pleasure to work with her and be around her beautiful energy. We also have planned a yoga shoot at sunset on one of the stunning beaches of Sussex so stay tuned to see part two of this beautiful shoot.

What is a yoga photoshoot and why would you want one?

Yoga is an ancient practice that has been used for centuries to promote physical and mental well-being. In recent years, yoga has become increasingly popular as a form of exercise and stress relief.

While there are many benefits to practicing yoga, one of the most unique aspects of this discipline is its ability to foster a deep sense of connection with oneself and the world around them.

A yoga photoshoot is an opportunity to capture this feeling of oneness in a beautiful and artistic way. By working with a professional photographer, you can create stunning images that capture the peace and serenity of your yoga practice.

Ways to use your yoga photos to market your business

As a yoga teacher, you know that great marketing is essential to attracting new clients. And what better way to market your business than with beautiful, creative yoga photos? Yoga poses are a great way to highlight the beauty of yoga. But how can you make the most of your shots? Here are some ideas:

1. Use them online on your website and as part of your social media marketing. Post them on your Instagram feed or create an attractive Facebook ad featuring one of your photos.

2. Use them in your email marketing campaigns. Send out a monthly e-newsletter featuring different yoga poses each time – it’s a great way to keep your students engaged.

3. Print them out and use them as part of your marketing. Display them on your studio’s walls or create beautiful yoga photo cards to hand out to prospective clients.

What to expect from your yoga photoshoot

When you book a yoga photography session, you can expect to feel both comfortable and inspired. I will take the time to get to know you and your yoga practice so that we can capture images that reflect your unique style.

During a yoga photography session, you will be asked to strike various poses focusing on your breath and energy. The goal is to create images that are serene and peaceful, that reflect your inner journey. A yoga photography session can be a deeply personal experience. It is an opportunity to connect with yourself and your practice in a new and deeply meaningful way.

Top 6 Yoga Photography Tips

tip #1:

Find a photographer who you feel comfortable with

The first and most important step in planning a yoga photoshoot is to find a yoga photographer who you feel comfortable with. After all, you’ll be spending a lot of time in front of the camera, in close proximity to each other, and you need to be able to trust your photographer implicitly. Look for someone who will be able to understand your vision and help you bring it to life.

Once you’ve found the right person, you can relax and focus on your practice, knowing that you’re in good hands. The results will be beautiful and truly capture the spirit of yoga.

tip #2:

Choose a location that is special to you

The next step is to choose a location that is special to you. This could be your yoga studio, a spot in your backyard where you practice every day, or a place in nature that has always felt like home. Once you have found your sacred space, the next step is to consider the light. Look for a spot where the light is soft and flattering, and avoid direct sunlight. After you have found the perfect location, it’s time to get into position. Remember, yoga is all about balance. Work with your photographer to find positions that showcase your strength and grace.

tip #3:

Wear clothing that makes you feel good

Yoga is about finding balance in your body and your mind. It’s a way to connect with yourself and the world around you. When you’re doing yoga, you should feel comfortable and confident in your body. That’s why it’s important to wear clothing that makes you feel good. Clothing that’s too tight or constraining can make it difficult to breathe and move freely. On the other hand, clothing that’s too loose can be distracting and dangerous. Wearing the right clothing can help you stay focused and present during your practice. Make sure you’re wearing clothing that makes you feel good.

tip #4:

Be prepared to strike a pose

During a yoga photography session, it is important to be prepared to strike a variety of poses. The photographer may want to photograph you in a number of different positions, so it is important to be flexible and comfortable in your own skin. In addition, it is helpful to wear form-fitting clothing that will show off your curves and muscles. By following these simple tips, you will be sure to capture some stunning yoga photos. Be prepared to experiment and have fun with it.

tip #5:

Don’t worry too much about props

One of the most beautiful things about yoga is that it can be practiced anywhere and with any props that you have available. Whether you have a mat, a block, or simply a flat surface, there are an endless number of poses that you can do to improve your strength, flexibility, and balance. And while yoga mats and props can be helpful, they are not essential. In fact, some of the most stunning yoga photos are taken without any props at all. The human body is naturally flexible and strong, and when photographed in a yoga pose, it can look truly incredible.

tip #6:

Be open to trying new things

Finally, be open to trying new things in front of the camera. A yoga photography shoot is an opportunity to step outside of your comfort zone and explore new ways. Trust your photographer and let them guide you on this journey.
